Complaint Comments:
Ms Cobb had her vehicle towed into our shop to have repairs completed from a loss that occured on 3/19/3023. We were provided with a claim number and began to follow up with NJM (New Jersey Manufactures). NJM dispatched an appraiser from National Appraisal Service. Sal from National and myself quickly aggreed to the scope of repairs but we had a discrepancy on NJM's labor rates that they were willing to pay. Sal advised that it was outside of his scope of work, which is understandable, and we began to reach out to Joran Battles to discuss this and other updates with the claim. Joran Battle did not answer a single phone call of ours, he only responded to one email. The only response we received from him was "The appraiser did not reach an agreed price on labor rates with your shop as noted on the estimate." He refused to discuss the claim further based on his nonresponse. We subsequently received a phone call from a very upset Ms. Cobb. She told us that Joran told her that NJM would not pay out anymore on the claim than what was on the original estimate written by National Appraisal. This was also an estimate written without the vehicle being torn down. Ms. Cobb was told she would have a $3,000.00 out of pocket expense if she utilized our shop and that NJM would not relinquish anymore funds if she had the vehicle repaired here. Our total labor rate differences amounted to $2848.80-$1546.70= $1302.10, a reach from the $3000 that Ms. Cobb was informed. If Joran would have answered any of our correspondence, we could have possibly reached an agreement as our rates are competitive in our market. Joran then steered MS. Cobb to a DRP shop using high pressure tactics and fear that her claim would not be paid accordingly if her car was taken to another shop. She did not feel as though she had a choice in the matter and would not be able to use the shop of her preference.
